BANKRUPTCY.
DEBTOR'S EXAMINATION.
G. W. OwitN.—The examination of this bankrupt was continued yesterday before the Official issitjnee. He said that, to the best of his knowledge, his liabilities were as follows : In connection wish the Auckland Agricultural and Mercantile Co.:— on shares, £5000; balance of account owing, £537 8s lOd ; shares taken over, £2204 83 lid ; contingent liability secured by mortgage on Yolande, £1145 16a 8d ; do. on promissory notes held by the bank, £4UO ; total, £9287 143 sd. In connection with the new business: Balance of stock purchased from the Auckland Agricultural and Mercantile Company, £2690 6j 4d; other trade accounts, £1109 3* 21; wages, £35 4» Id: total, £3831 13i 7d. Total liability, £13,122 Bs. In addition to this, there was au amount of £789 8s owing for foreign goods in transit and in store. The Bank held bills of lading against his promissory notes for these good*, and he anticipated that their value would fully cover the liability. Contingent liabilities to the extent of £2000 also existed on bills discounted and paid away, and these also would be realised in full. Toe debtor proceeded to explain at some length the various items in his ■ liabilities, and stated that his assets were comprised as follows ;— Stock-in-trade in store and in bond, £1500 13s; book debts, £1641 91 2d (estimated to produced £1200) ; office and store furniture, etc., £108 ; horses, carts, and harness, £81 16*; shares, £61 10*; bills receivable, £637 15s 31; household furniture, interest, £200; buggy and harness, £22 sundry freehold interest, £50; total, £3864 14s .3d. Assuming that the contingent liabilities would be fully extinguished, he estimated his deficiency at about £7710, the whole ot which arose in consequence ot transactions with the Auckland Agricultural and Mercantile Company. Mr. Owen stated that he was willing to take over the assets at a fair valuation, if the creditors granted termssay not lets than six months, on guaranteed bills.
