AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.

The regular bi-monthly meeting of the Auckland Presbytery was held yesterday at Si. Andrew's Churoh, when there were present: — he Moderator (the Rev. P. J. Kiddle), and Rev. Messrs. Norrie, K. Macnicol, O. B. Monro, C, Worboys, D. W. Ranciman, A. M. McCallum, J. S. West, D. Steele, S. Neill, R. Somerville, A. Carrick, R. McKinney, and Elders Messrs. Stewart, Mackie, Buchanan, Garriook, and others. The court was constituted with the usual devotional exercises.

A New Minister.—The clerk introduced to the session the Kev. J. 3. West, a licentiate of tho Free Church Presbytery of Dundee. He had been sent out by the colonial branch of the Free Church, bearing the usual commission. Mr. est was warmly welcomed by all the members of the Presbytery. St, David's.The Rev. A. Csrrick reported having received a call from St. David's Church on behalf of the Rev. Mr. West. Mr. Paterson, one of the commissioners appointed, said the call bad been signed by 101 members, and 91 adherents of the church. Mr. McGregor, the other commissioner, said the congregation had decided to promise a stipend of £300 a year without a manse. Mr. Munro moved, "That the Presbytery sustain the call." Mr. Maoniool seconded the motion. He was . glad the congregation of St. David's had at last obtained a suitable minister. Mr. West said he had been booked for Wellington, but he had agreed to preach for four Sundays in Auckland, and the outcome was this call, The heartlneas with which he had been received had induced him to accept the call, and he would do all in his power to prove himself worthy of it, Messrs. Runoiman and McCallum were appointed to sorve the edict. The induction was fixed for Tuesday fortnight (18,h October), at 7 p.m. The Rev. J. Macky was appointed to preside, the Kev, D. J. Steele to [ireach, the K?v. A. Currick to ordain, and the Rev. Mr. Runciman to address the people. a.vwndaie. — The clerk reported having received a letter from the Church Extension Committee at Wellington agreeing to mako a grant of £15 for six months to the Avon dale Church. At the end of the six months they would consider the continuation of the grant for another six mouths if necessary. Ngaruawahia.The Clerk stated that he had arranged tor the Ngaruawahia congregation being supplied by the Rev. Mr. MuKinny, a student evangelist, for a trial term of three mouths at a stipend of £100 a year, and a house. The olerk'a action was approved. Aged Ministers' Fund,—A discussion arose as to the propriety of supporting applications for assistance from the Ministers' Fund by aged and infirm ministers who had come from other churches. A most flittering certificate was received from the Congregational Union on behalf of an application from the Rev. Thomas Adams. Mr. Steele spoke very favourably of Mr. Adams. The certificate was approved of by the Presbytery, and it; wan decided to forward the document to the General Assembly.
