BANK OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

The report of the' Bank of South Australia shows a profit on the half year's transactions of £25,300, and the directors recommend a dividend of 6 per cent. During the period there has been a moderate diminution in advances. Mr. Anderson has resigned his seat on the directorate of the Bank, because the to opening of branches in the colonies has been postponed.
MELBOURNE EXHIBITION. • London, October 3.
The Consul for Belgium at Melbourne has been gazetted as Government Commissioner at the Centennial Exhibition. The Belgian Commissioner at the Adelaide Exhibition will act similarly at the Melbourne one.
THE KAIKOURA.
London, October 3.
The R.M.S. ICaikoura (from Wellington, August 14) arrived at Plymouth to-day. Her cargo of frozen meat is in good condition.
THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL. San Fkancisco, October 2. The Union Co.'s Mariposa, with the .New Zealand September homeward mails arived here at noon yesterday (Saturday).
