The exhibition held here in aid of the funds of the Public Library has resulted in i credit balance of £333. Wellington, Friday, The ohargoa of larceny against Annie servant of Captain Rose, were heard this morning. Both charges were dismissed, but the Magistrate ordered a charge of malicious injury to property to be laid, and fined her £5 or 28 days' Imprisonment to mark the gravity of the breach of truat which the girl had displayed in interfering with her employer's property. The Wellington Meat Preserving Company and their manager have been served with a writ, issued on behalf of Robert Yarrow, a late of the company, claiming £200 for defamation of character. The case is to bo heard in the Supreme Court on 15th inst. Charles Smith, aliaa Frank Masters, was to-day sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment for indecent exposure. The offence took place in January last. Christohuhch, Friday.
