The Borough Council auditors have just received a communication from the AuditorGeneral taking exception to the mode in which the borough accounts are stated. He points out that the item £194 spent on the reception of the Governor, and the salary paid to the clerk of the licensing bench, are altogether illegal, and demands that the respective amounts bo paid into the borough account at onoe. The matter will probably come before the Borough Council this evening. It was resolved ithat the Counoil take no action in the matter and await what β-epe the Auditor-General may choose to take.
