THE CHARGES AGAINST DR. BUSSELL.

VERDICT OF GUILTY. [by telegraph.—press .association.] Chbistchukch, Wednesday. A large crowd assembled at the Supreme Court this morning, when the cases against Dr. Russell, Mrs. Bowern, and Isabella Wilson were brought on. Mrs. BowerL, who was in mourning, and appeared to fetl her position keenly, and was in tears, pleaded guilty to procuring miscarriage in herself in January, ISS6. Dr. Russell, somewiir. thinner and paler than when arrested, pleaded not guilty in a firm voice to the charges of procuration on Kate Fisher in December, 1885, aDd on Mary Bowern. The three prisoners pleaded not gnilty to the charge of procuration on Annie Connolly. Mr. justice Johnston said he would defer sentence on Mrs. Bowern till hearing the evidence in the other cases against her. Mr. Martin, for the Crown, said he would first take the charge against Dr. Russell for using an instrument on Mrs. Bowern. The strongest corroborative evidence of Mrs. Bowern's confession on the matter was Dr. Russell's conduct when arrested ; he drank the contents of a bottle which he stated contained aconite and strychnine, saying that be wanted to kill himself. Under treatment he recovered; and his vomit, on analysis, proved to contain large quantities of both poisons. Evidence was then taken, ana the Judge, having summed 'op, the jury returned a verdict of guilty. Sentence was deferred.
