RESULT OF THE SYDNEY CUP. I [REUTEB'S TELEGRAM.] ; The second days racing of the A.J.C. 1 Autumn Meeting took plaoe at Bandwiok I to-day. The weather during the morning I was 0001, but showers fell after the first race, t and rain fell continuously during the day. i The attendance wa3 good. Among the ! visitors was His Excellency Lord CafringI ton. The following are the details of the racing :— 1 The Flying Handicap, a handicap of 150 ■ sovs. Second horse 25aovs from the prize. : Three-quarters of a mile. Plutarch ... 1 , Abner 2 , Faugh-a-Ballagh 3 Seventeen horeee started for the race. A fair start was effected. All kept together until the turn for home, when Abner and Plutarch drew to the front, the latter winning by a length, only a neck separating the second and third horaea. Time, lmin 17 sees. Honeydew and The Wreck were the first to show in front. The latter led to the straight, where he grave way to Mozart, who, with Myall King, passed the stand together, attended by Fraud, Wreck, and 'Friaoo, while|Abuse, Ringmaster, and Tom Browa were absolutely last. Aβ they paseod the mile poat Nelson alipped and fell, while rnnniDg well. At the back of the oourae Ringmaster was in front, followed by Myall King, 'Friaco.and Stanley. In this order they raced to tha turn, where Tom Brown began to move up. When between the rails 'Frisco and Kitawa came to the front, and a good finieh ensued, the former winning by half a length, Tom Brown being third, three lengths away, followed by Ringmaster, Emerald, and Honeydew. Time, 3min 39Jaec. The betting at the post was 6 to 1 againet The Jowel, Honeydew, and Myall King; 10 to 1 Tom Brown, Kitawa, Stanley, and 'Friaco ; 12 to 1 Nelson and Abuse ; 20 to 1 others. Local Handicap of 40sova ; aecond horse, ssova from the Bitakes. One mile. Mr. A. Turner's Charmer, 7at 1211b (Avery) 1 Captain Bell'a Fabrication, 6at 101b (Stowe) 2 Mr. A. J. Hoskins' Voltigeu, 7at 9ib (Poulsoo) 3 Forward (6st 101b) and Black Regent (6at) also ran. There wan a good start. Black Regont led for the quarter-mile, when Charmer went to the front ; the others in a hunch. Rounding the turn into the straight, Fabrication came wifch a ru3h and passed Charmer, but soou died away, and Charmer won by half a length. Time, lmin 45sec. Dividend, £1 17a. The race neede little description, as on the fall of the flag Jilt took the leading position and gradually increasing it won by half-a-dozen lengths from Freebooter, Helicon a bad third, Time, Smin Sliseo. Dividend, £219 a. Hack Hurdle Race of losovs was won by Forward. Slaughterman was the only other starter. Dividend, £1 9i. EiSTKR Handicap of 70aovs ; second horse lOeova from stakes. One mile and a quarter. Mr. A. Turner's Charmer, Sst (Avery) 1 Mr. John Ray's Satenella, 6st (Hockey) 2 Mr. A. J. Hoskin'a Rumour, Set 81b (Jones) ... ... ... ... ... 3 Tho Shah (9at 71b) and Little Scrub (7st 101b) also ran. Even money, Rumour; 3 to 1 against Little Scrub and Shah, 5 to 1 againet Charmer. Charmer led from an even start, closely followed by Shah and Rumour, then Satenella and Little Scrub. All along the back atretch and to the entrance to the atraight the order waa: Charmer, Shah, Humour. When fairly in the straight Satenella came very fast, and paased both Humour and Shah, but was never able to get on even terms with Charmer, who won by a length, Rumour a fair third. Kangaroo wae the favourite. Strenuous had a little the best of a fair start, and maintained the lead throughout, winning by half a, length, Time, lrain 18£ sec. Dividend. £6 Ba. The amount put through the machine was £2745, making £4782 in two days. ' A meeting of the stewards was held after the second race, when it was decided that any persons laying wagera of any sort would be removed from the coarse. This action was taken as it was found that a bookmaker's secretary was laying totalieator odds. CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB'S AUTUMN MEETINC. Christchuroh, Monday. The weather was lovely for the first day of the Jockey Club Autumn Meeting. The attendanoo was good, there being about 5000 people on the ground. An accident, however, somewhat marred the day's pleasure. Kingaak fell in the Hurdle Race, and Kieghsm, who was riding him, was rendered unconscious. Quibble won the Autumn Han.

At Cutts , Fog ' went to the front, palling double, with Leon, Patrician, and Quibble following, and ' Fair Nell coining through her horses. , At the top turn, Hermitage went up, 3 and Fog fell back. Coming into the 7 straight Fair Nell led, with Quibble next, and Hermitage lying third, When they were r all well into the atraght, despite the game 1 efforts of the filly, Quibble came away and J won by three lengths, Hermitage just beating i Fair Nell by half a length for second place. Marion was fourth, the rest pulling up. Time, 2min. 3S£sec. Dividend, £60 16s; ' £2 tickets, £25 17a 6d. In this race Fair Nell's saddle broke, and Cochrane had to ■ finish without the aid of the stirrup irons. 1 Canterbury Champaghk STAKES of 20SOVB I each, with 300aovs added, second horse SOsovs, third horse 25aov from stake. Crutchfield was rather the ' quickest away from a good start, but on settling down Sextant took the lead, followed by Maxim ; Crutchfield, Gipsy King, and Saltan following in that order. Coming into the straight there was no change in the order, except that Gipsy King had displaced Crntohfield, but half way up the straight Maxim passed Sextant, and won a good race by & length, Gipsy King half a dozen lengths away third, the others pulling up. Coming infc» the straight Lorraine came up, but only for a moment, as Repose and Rose' and Black came away, and the latter won a magnificent race by a nose, Kimberley coming fast, and finished close up third, and Lorraine fourth. Time, lmin 3|«ec. Dividends, £4 7s and £3. The finish for this race was so close that the judge put up Repose's number at first. Post Stakes of 50sovs, six furlongs, was won by Oliver Cromwell, with Gaiety second. The winner was bought in for £26. !
