SPORTING.
AUCKLAND AUTUMN MEETING. Somk good work was done on the racecourso yesterday morning. Spade Guinea pat in a good twice round, Teddy Yuille accompany* ing her tho last time. The mare performed her task iti a satisfactory manner, and finished up strong. Friendship and Tamora were associated together in a fast once round, on the plough, which they accomplished in capital time, the former finishing hor task very resolutely. Turquoise, Derringer, VVapiti, Lady Norab, Cinderella, and British Lion, were out, but only did gentle exercise. The Napier representatives, Pearl, Rivulet and Volcano, are stationed at D. Munn's stables at Otahuhu, and they will roceive their preparation on the local course.
• Matters still remain very dull in the betting market. • Tho Southern division yesterday showed an inclination to bring business to a head by offering 100 to 30 on the field for the Easter Handicap, but there were no takers.
The racehorse Silence arrived last night by the Tarawera. Though the steamer experienced a stiff north-west gale all the way from Giaborne, the horse escaped without any injury.
