VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

Thk Board of Isqdiry. — The Board of Inquiry iato the allegations made against the management of the No. 3 Battalion will resume its sittings this morning. Wβ understand that the question raised at the last sitting aa to whether any fresh evidence proposed to be adduced could be admitted has been referred to Wellington, and that a reply had not been received up to a late hour yesterday. Rkorcit Drill.—The Newton Rifles were the only company represented at the Drillshed last uigtit for recruit drill. The mueter was put through a numbor of formations by the non-commissioned officers.

Thk Easter Encampment. — The principal question that seems to be engaging attention now is in regard to the mossing arrangements. Several of the companies are calling for tenders for cooking, etc., while others will carry out their own culinary duties. The field officers , moss has been undertaken by Mr. H. Bennett, of the Clarendon Hotel, he having taken the contract at 5s per head per diem. The cost of horeea to drag the "A !l Battery's Armstrong guue will be an expensive item, as it amounts to £20. The District Office is still busy preparing the details, etc., of the encampment, anil altogether the arrangements appear to bo progressing eatiafactorily towards the main objects— a. large turn out of men and good meesing.

Auckland Royal Dbaooons. —This troop paraded at the Harp of Erin, Kllorelio, on .Saturday last, at half-past three p.m. Iu conseauenco of bad weather, there was not a full inustar, and the troop was marched to Epsom, where, in Mr. Buckland'e fine paddook, the troop was manoeuvred in increasing and diminishing front, sword exercise, and akirmiehing dismounted. At the conclusion the orders were read respecting tho encampment, also the following appointments :—To bo Acting Sergeant-Major, Sergeant Evans ; to be Quartermaster-Sergeant, Sergeant Clark ;to be Sergeant, Corporal Hunt; to be Corporal, Trooper Doyle. All the men present (25) signed their names to attend at the encampment, and Captain Erson was requested to push to the utmost limit his powers to fine all absentees. This, which Captain Erson is determined to do, will atnouut to £4 per man. Arrangements for cooking rations for the men and providing forage for tha horses have been made. The troop will parade at the Newmarket Hall this evening, as advertised elsewhere.
