WELLINGTON RACING CLUB MEET. ING. [by TELEGRAPH.riiKss ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. The first day's raoing of the W.R.C. Summer Meeting was held at the Hutt to-day. There was a strong nor'-wester blowing till three o'clock, when the wind veered to tho southward, and blew cold. The attendance was about 1200. The course was in good order, but rather hard. The following are the results :—

Telegraph Stakes, 75bovs ; second horse,

lOsovs. Three quarters of a mile. Mr. Thompson's Little Scrub, 6st 31b

(Hickey) Mr. R. J. Mason's Teddy Yuille, 6st 101b

(Uuxtable)

Mr. J. Saunder's, The Shah, 9st (Clifford) 3 Soudan (7st 111b), Tornado (6»t 121b, including 51b over), Princess Royal (6st 21b, including 21b over), also ran. Soudan was a hot favourite. From a fair start, Princess Royal and Tornado jumped away with the lead, then Little Scrub, Teddy Yuille, The Shah, and Soudan. In this order they approached the road, but here Tornado fell away, and Scrub was taken up to the leaders. Rounding into the straight., Princess Royal was still at the head of affairs, with Scrub handy and Teddy Yuille on tho outside a length away, the favourite bsing drat. Entering the straight, Clifford made his efforts with Shah, and ran well up, but the Scrub had by this time wrested the lead from Princess Royal, who also gave way to Teddy Yuille. Down the straight the whips were out, but Little Scrub, full of running, answered gamely, and won from Teddy Yuille by a length and a half; Shah, easing down, being third, Soudan last. Time, lmin 17sec. Dividend £9.

WellingtonTwo-Year-OldStakes. Sweepstake of lOaov, with 200sov added. Second 30sov, and third lOaov from the stakes. Six furlongs. Mr. G. H. Clifford's Crutchfield, Sat 51b (H. Thomson) ... ... ... ... 1 Mr. D. O'Brien's Rose and Black, Sat 21b . (T. Chapman) ... ... ... ... 2 Mr. E. Cutt's Lorraine, Bsfc 51b (W. White) ... 3

.*.• *J Cupid (Sat 21ba), and Minnie Palmer (9st 21b) also ran. Crutchfield and Rose and Black were equal favourites, 3 to 2 against them. From a good start Lorraine went to the front, ami gradually increased her lead, and by the time the road was crossed had six lengths the best of it, Crutchfield and Rose and Black being next, Cupid and Minnie Palmer being outpaced. Lorraine entered the straight with a commanding lead. A desperate struggle ensued. Crutchfield on the inside, and Rose and Black on the outside, gradually wore the leader down, and these two passed the post almost together, the judge giving his verdict in favour of Crutchfield by a held, but there are many of opinion that as Rose and Black finished under the judge's box he had a bit the best of it. Lorraine was half a length away third, Cupid and Minnie Palmer clean out of it. Time, lmin 20sec. Dividend, £2 17s.

Hurdle Handicap, of lOOaovs; second horse, lOsovs. About two miles and a half. Mr. H. Lunn'a Kingask, list 31b (King) 1 Mr. Butler's Master Agnes 12st (T. i yford) ... ... ... ... ... 2 Mr, A. McKoll's Orient, lOst (Herd) ... 3 Aroha (list 51b), Volcano (lOafc 71b) also ran. Master Agnes was favourite, 3 to 1 against him, 5 to 1 Orient, 6 to 1 Ringask. From a fair start Master Agnes led the field at an easy pace for a mile, all the horses fencing nicely, but Volcano tailed of! from the start, and was never in the race. After passing the stand the second time the pace was increased, and both Orient and Aroha passed Master Agnes, and maintained a leading position till the plough was reached at the back of the course, when Kingank was let eut, and speedily overtaking Orient, the result was never in doubt, and he cantered in a winner by four lengths, Master Agnes, who came fast in the last quarter mile, disposing of Orient, and Aroha gained the second place. Orient an indifferent third, the others nowhere. Time, smin 6aec, Dividend, £5 13s.

Y\ Ellington* Cup of SOOsov, second horse to

I receive 50sov, and third horse 20aov, | Mr. T. Bill's Pasha, Sat 41b (Clifford) ... 1 [ Mr. W. Bobbett's Lady Norah, 6at (Kidd) ... ... ... ... ... 2 ! Captain Russell's Tigredia, Sat (Reeves) 3 ! Administrator (Bst 3lb), Artillery (Tat 91b), I Humour (7at 71b) also ran. Silence (7st 101b) and Fardingale (Gat 71b) were scratched. Betting at start : 2 to 1 Pasha, 3 to 1 Administrator, 4 to 1 Artillery, 5 to 1 Lady Norah. 10 to 1 Tigredia and Rumour. On a second attempt Mr. Young Bant the fiald away to a capital start. Administrator almost immediately rushed to the front, followed by Laily Norah and Tigredia, Rumour lying fourth, and Artillery last. This order was maintained crossing the road and down the straight, but passing thest and Lady Norah and Tigredia closed on Administrator, and raoed with him to the turn by the river, with Pasha and Rumour together next, and Artillery still last, six lengths away. At the mile and a»half post Administrator gave way to Lady Norah, and Derritt took Artillery into the ruck, and from there to the road was a very pretty race. Lady Norah led around the turn into the straight, with Tigredia and Administrator close in attendance, Pasha holding a good position inside, and only a length away, Rumour falling away beaten. When fairly in the straight Clifford brought Pasha up with a great rush, and easily disposing of "Tigredia and Administrator, went in pursuit of the Auckland mare, whom he caught at the distance post, and coming freely won a grand race by about two lengths from Lady Norah, Tigredia an excellent third, Administrator fourth, Artillery fifth, and Rumour last. Artillery was favourite on the totalisator. Time, 3mic sec : dividend, £3 lis.

Titbit was the favourite. Betting at post, 2 to 1 Titbit, 3 to 1 Waitiri, sto 1 Revoke. From an even start, Smooth made play and led the field for the first half -mile by six lengths, when Revoke made a forward movement, and approaching the road, Smooth dropped away last. Revoke led to the turn into the straight, when Waitiri closed on her with Titbit, half a length away. Soon all were at work, but Derritt on Titbit was not to be denied, and at the distance post he was on level terms with Revoke. From there a great race ensued, Titbit winuing by a head, Waitiri a fair third. Time, lmin 6isec.
