A STORMY PASSAGE. Wellington, Monday.—Arrived : The barque Guinevere, Captain Ford, from Liverpool, via the Mauri This vessel was disabled in a heaw gale in June last, and had to put in to the Mauritius for repairs. The captain reports : At 3 p.m. on the 15th June shipped a tremendous sea, which smashed the two after boats, burst in the door of the deok house, broke the galley, &c., and did other damage. On the following day another sea broke on board, which smashed the two forward boats and the skylights of the deck house. At 4 p.m. the cutwater was carried away as far as the metal, with the figurehead, and a quantity of water found its way into the hold. On the 18th the rudder was carried away. On the following day rigged a jury rudder, whioh was also carried away. On the 20th a Dutch ship sighted us, and offered assistance, which was declined. Was able to get a spar adrift to make another jury rudder, the decks having been completely under water. By the Ist of July got a jury rudder shipped, the vessel having been thirteen days without one. Bore up for Mauritius, arriving there on the 17th of July. Some of the cargo was found to be damaged, and was gold. The vessel received the necessary repairs, and left for Wellington on the 14th November. She has part cargo for Dunedin.
