THE POPE'S LOVE FOR ENGLAND.

Lord Denbigh, speaking at Rugby, said he recently had soma conversation with the Pope, and it would be very interesting to the country to know that his Holiness said :—I have the greatest opinion of England. I feel grateful to her, and have the greatest respect for her laws sad Constitution, for I see ehe is just, aad therefore liberal. She ia strong, and all the Catholics under her rule hare greater liberty and freedom than they have in other parts of the world* For that I respect and thank her, and I wish to help her to the utmost of my power wherever my influence can extend throughout the whole world. Mot only can I help her in Ireland, but in the colonies and India, and I wish to do it to the utmost of my power ; but I mast know what lam doing. I have no accurate means of knowing now what is doing in England, nor what the English Government wishes. I have no representative ; if I had a representative of England at my Court I should know what was going on, and know what to do; bat until I have that it is impossible for me to act. His Lordship went on to say he found His Holiness really knew very little of what wu going on in Ireland, and that he had no means of knowing except through the Irish themselves. He (the speaker) had mentioned this matter to a number of prominent statesmen, and he hoped and trusted some good would come of it.
