Toe above firm have received a Urge consignment of Japanese art prodnotioiiS from the Museum Company of Art and Manufactures of Hlojo, Japan, and they will be disposed of by auction, on Tuesday next, at 11 o'clock, at their mart, Queen-ttreet. without r»Bern. The lacquered work comprises ciblnett, deskc, glove boxes, card and cigar boxes, tables and trays. 'J be porcelain, known as "eggshell porcelain," is of a quality rerely seen in an auctlonrooro the designs being remarkably chaste and beautiful. Of embroidered Roods there Is a great variety, embracing ladles' and gents' gowns, and drawingroom binds and hanging'. There is alao a lot of richlyembroidered satin «rape end broatde. These articles have been used as coverings for small Buddhist shrines, and costumes mod out of Japan for fancy dresi bulla. There are some very handsome screens all embroidered. One of the collections will be inspected with much interest, ant-quo bronze gong* temple idols, feudal swords and Javelins—the latter weapons being formerly worn by all officials and Saruaral of Japan, iiy a decree issued in 1869 all these arms were collected -up - by—the Government, and it is now forbidden by law to use or wear them. There are suits of armour, and firemen's coats aad helmets, which Superintendent Hughes would do well to inspect; also, a fine assortment of vases, tea sets, flower-pot». toilet ornaments, napkin . ring,, fancy teapot*, and hall vases. A nice selection or camphor wood and other cablneis is cxh bited mere Is a fine array of fanf, Javanese umbrellas curiously caived walkim-sticks, silk handkerchief etc. Amongst the porcelain and china ware there aro articles of Satsuma-ware, also from Owari. Biiliin Lundo, SuiuUuki. Keibisho. Kiku, Kocht, Imatl' ota™, and Yonhtda. As specimens of Japanese art and workmanship, the above collection U well worth inspection.
