A conference of A gents-General took place to-day, the subject under discussion being the New Hebrides and New Guinea. Nothing, however, was decided. Mr. Stanhope stated that nothing definite had been arranged between the English and French Governments relative to the New Hebrides. Hβ thought May next would be too late for the conference on colonial affairs, and suggested April as preferable. A Press Association message says : —The Agents-General, in obedience to a summons from Mr. Stanhope, had an interview with him today. The interview relates to a conference to be held next year respecting New Guinea and the New Hebrides. The British proposals regarding the latter island were not revealed, and nothing was decided at the meeting.
