THAMES SCHOOL OF MINES.
[BY TELEGRAPH—OWN OOBRESPONDENT.I Thames, Friday. A very interesting meeting was held this evening at the School of Mines, on the ocoa* sion of the adjournment for the holidays. Dr. Kilgour presided. The statement showed that the institution is out of debt, and thcro is a small balance to credit. Dr. Davy gave a lecture on deleterious gases found in mines, and illustrated the proper treatment of persona affected thereby. A. rat was asphyxiated in carbonio acid gas, and underwent the convulsions ueual in snob cases, and when removed from its influence gradually recovered from the paralysis consequent npon its immersion in the gas, and at last ran away. The etudents gave numerous examplee of the work they had done, illustrating the progress made and proficiency acquired under Mr. Montgomery's instructions.
