On Monday, at Aowhanga, a settlement between Cape Turnagain and Castle Point, a Maori girl, about ten yeara of age, daughter of Hori Taki, was burnt to death. The child waa lifting potatoes off the fire when her clothes caught Ore, and before the flames were extinguished «ho was so severely burnt aa to cause death.
