AUCKLAND LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the delegates of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association was held at the club-room, Waverley Hotel, yesterday afternoon, to arrange the programme for the interclub matches, &o. There were present :— Messrs* Thomas (in the chair), Reed, Goodhue, Parnell; D. S- Chapman, Burton, (Bowling) ; Mowbray, Purdie, Northoote; Clark, E. P. Hudson, Tolhurst, Government House ; Spioer, Mason, North Shore. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Inter-club Matches.—Mr. Reed moved, seconded by Mr. Clark, " That four ladies and four gentlemen be chosen to represent each, club in inter-olub matches, and that in such matches five .series of seta be played. The clnb winning most series to be declared the conqueror. The series of sets to be as follows:—(1) Ladies, single, best out of 3 sets; (2) gents, single, best out of 5 sets ; (3) ladies, double, best out of 3 sets: (4) gents, double, best out of 5 sets ; (5) mixed, double, best out of 3 sets. No one person to play in more than one of these series of sets. That a cup be presented by the association to the winning club, such cup to be held for one year, and that badges be given to suoh representatives of the club." Limit of Matches. —A motion that all matches should be played before Christmas was put and lost, and an amendment " That the ladies' singles and the gentlemen's singles be played before Christmas " was carried. It was also resolved that the matohea should begin on Saturday, Deoember 4. Match Committee.—lt was agreed to form a match oommittee, consisting of one member from each club, and the following were elected :—Messrs. Reid, Spioer, Chapman, Shaw, Mowbray, and Hudson. Visit to Fiji.—The question of sending representatives to Fiji was discussed, and the match oommittee was empowered to ohoose representatives. The secretary, Mr. E. P. Hudson, will be glad to receive the names of any gentleman who oould go to Fiji. Napteb Tournament.—The match committee was instructed to devise ways and means to defray part of the expenses of representatives to the Napier tournament. Ladies' Championship.—lt was agreed that there should be a Ladies , Single Championship for the year, and that a trophy should be chosen by the Match Committee. Draw for Club Matoiies. —The drawing for the firat club matches then took plaoe, and resulted as follows :—Auckland v. Auckland Bowling, Government House v. Devonport, Ponsonby v. Northcote. Parnell had a bye. A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the meeting.
