THE LATE ARCHBISHOP VAUGHAN.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—A feeling of very general regret cannot fail to exist amongtt the many admirers of the late Archbishop Vaughan relative to the dispute as to where the remains of the illustrious prelate shall be finally deposited. Mention of the fact was made in your columns yesterday. There can be no doubt that, judging from his last words, uttered in Sydney, Dr. Vaughan would have preferred to rest among those who, by adoption, were his children, and for whom he worked so well. The herculean labours of the lata Archbishop are known and appreciated throughout the colonies. His admiration for the fortitude and sympathy with the struggles of the Irish people proved the greatness of his heart and head; and that his remains may yet rest in Australian soilinterred with all the pomp befitting his dignity and splendid services—is the prayer of thousands, amongst whom, £ am, etc., Colonial.
