THE SHOAL BAY CHANNEL.—A MUNIFICENT OFFER.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— To-day I see a letter signed M. T, Clayton, and am glad be thinke the channel in Shoal Bay can be made for £5000. But should it require £12,000, and there is no better way of raising the money, I am quite willing to be one of twelve to subscribe £1000 each, although I am only a pauper compared to a number of those who live in thisdistriot. There ia another thing of asmuch or more importance required here—a good hotel. And I renew the offer I made before, of one of the best sites for a hotel on thg lake, for its value In shares, if a company i a formed to build a hotel. I know of no other town in the world that has suoh a plaoe as this within three miles, or I should have gone there to live. There ii no doubt but that this should be the watering place of Auokland.—l am, &c, Edwin Harrow. Lake Takapuna, November 4.
