A telegram has been received by the County Chairman etating that the Government had approved of the subsidies on the £ for £ principle for the construction of a traok from the sea beach to VVaiomo, estimated to cost £750, amount of subsidy £375; and aleo a track from Karaka Creek to Lucky Hit, estimated to cost £300, amount of subsidy £150. Mr. Clare, surveyor, has arrived to survey the land to be taken for the Hikataia* Paeroa section of railway. [PBESS ASSOCIATION. 1 Invercakgill, Monday. F. M. Dawson'a store at Pukehau has been burnt down. Nothing was saved but the books. The stock waa insured for £500 in the New Zealand office, and for £500 in the South British, whioh had £200 of its risk reinsured with the New Zealand office.
