ROTORUA.
[BY TELEGBAPH.—OWN OORBBSPeNDBNT.j Botobua, Tuesday. A final meeting of the Tarawera Relief Committee was held on Saturday last in the Courthouse, Rotorua. Present: Mr. H. W. Brabant, R.M., Mr. R. 3. Bush, R.M., Mr. H. D. Johnson, Government Agent, Dr. Ginders, and Oaptain Mair. The following accounts were passed for payment: To Euro peans, £141 ; freight and oartage of food for natives, £133 10s Id ; for ploughs, oarts, grass seed, and other implements for natives, £76 8s 6d; relief to sundry natives, £41 83 sd; sundry expenses, £44 : total, £396 Hβ. Amount of subscriptions to date, £382; estimated amount of subscriptions to come in, £20. Besides the above, Captain Mair has distributed amongut the natives about sixty tons of flour, sugar, and potatoes, valued at £350, and olothing valued at £50. It will be observed that an immense sum has been swallowed up in freight and cartage, all of which might have been saved had the caah been forwarded, and the goods purchased, laying aside the great boon to our local storekeepers. However, all said and done, many deserving oases are still left unprovided for, and many, it is said, who obtained relief had but a shadow of a claim, and others none at all. We are experiencing a most severe nor'* eaater, at times approaching a gale. The lake is again rising fast.
