A few days since a number of shippers of ' stock presented Captain Meade, of the Union S.S. Co., with a testimonial as a mark of their appreciation for hie efforts on their behalf, and At the same time they handed a similar presentation to a representative of the company to be given to Captain Charles Todd, formerly chief officer of the Hauroto, but now commander of the i.e. Suva, running in the Fiji and Samoan trade. The barque Lutterworth, bound for London, is still detained in harbour, and owing to the weather the departure of the Union Co.'a steamers Eauroto and Australia and the i.e. Kotuku had to be postponed uetil to-day. The weather also detained the barque Helen Denny from being berthed as Intended at the Railway Wharf. The s.s. Wellington left last evening for Whaogarei with cargo and passengers. The Kahu, which was at Whangarei on Monday last, loading coal, is to go from there to East Coast ports and Napier. From the latter port the Kahu will return here with a cargo of ■took, etc. .... The sohooner Waiapu came into harbour yes* texday morning from Giiborne and East Coast ports, after a very rapid passage. Captain Nicholas reports that Gisborne was left on Friday last at 8 a.m., and next morning she arrived at Rakaktira. There took in 195 sacks maize and 36 sw.oke wheat, and left the same night for Te Eaha, where 140 bags of maize were loaded, and the schooner then went outside the harbour, and received 175 bags of wheat. At noon on Monday the Waiapu left again, and had dirty weather tip to arrival, at 11 o'clock yesterday morning. In addition to the above cargo, the Waiapu has on board from Gisborne 50 sacks maize, 6 bags skinn, 3 tons flour, 3 hides, 8 pigs. On Saturday afternoon last the new yacht just completed by Mr. R. Logan, of the North Shore, made her trial trip, and gave entire satisfaction to all interested in her. The owners— F. Oramond, J. Banner, and E. D. Benjamin, together with some of their yachting friends —were present to witness the ceremony of her christening.
