FIRE AT TE AROHA.

[BY TELKGKiPH, —OWN COBBBSFONDKNT.] Te Akoha, Thursday. A two-roomed cottage with lean-to, the property of G. M. Burke, situated near the old slaughter yard at the eouth end of Whitaker-etreet, was burnt to the ground this forenoon. The fire broke out in the kitchen when Mrs. Burke was in the bedroom attending to her child, and it bad got a good hold of the building before it was observed. Mr. Burke and some neighbours were quickly on the spot, but owing to the scarcity of water, which had to be carried some distance in buckets, the efforts to subdue the flames were unavailing. Everything inside the house was consumed except a few articles of child's clothing, and a box containing some books. The building was insured in the New Zealand Company's office for £60, and the furniture, piano, and pereonal effeote for £100.
