PRESENTATIONS.

Mr. A. French, having resigned his appointment as head teacher of Mount Albert School, was presented, on leaving, by the teachers and scholars, with a very beautiful writing desk. After some kind words from Miss Q. Astley, assistant teacher, expressive of their good wishes and esteem, Mr. French thanked them for their valuable present and for their kindness and goodwill. A very complimentary address from the pupils attending the public school, Ngaruawahia, accompanied with a handsome China tea service and glassware, was presented to Miss Elizabeth Davis on the ocoasion of her leaving the school, where she has acted as pupilteacher for the last two years. During her stay here, Miss Davis has won the esteem not only of the children under her oharge, but of a large number of friends. A very elegantly-engrossed address, executed by Mr, Slator, of Auckland, was on view at Cambridge on July 10, previous to its being presented to the Rev. Mr. Dewsbury, the late pastor of St. Paul's VVesleyan Methodist Church, Cambridge, now located at Devonport, near Auckland. The address is handsomely framed. Mr. Dewsbury was exceedingly popular during hia thrdte years' stay in Cambridge, and will be affectionately remembered for a long time to come, not only by the members of his own congregation, but by all those with whom he was brought in contact,

On July 10 there wag a meeting of the Grand Lodge of the Orange Institution at the Pro* testant Hall, Newton, when a presentation was made to Past Grand Master R. Scott, by the Grand Master (Rev. Mr. Brookes). A resolution expressive of sympathy with their brethren in Ireland who are passing through troublous times, was passed, and directed to be forwarded to the Grand Lodge of Ireland. The committee of the St. John's Ambulance Association, Christchurch, at a meeting on the 29th Jane, decided to present a cross to Mr. Mcßae, of Wairoa, in recognition of his gallantry during the late volcanic eruption in the Hot Springs district. A handsome presentation was made re* cently by the staff of the Auckland Telegraph Department to Mrs. Alexander, on the occasion of her marriage to Mr. B. C. Mounier, of the Union Bank branch, Waikato, and consequent resignation of her post in the Auckland Telephone Bureau. The lady had been 15 years in the service, and had gained the respect and esteem of all the members of the staff.
