MASONIC.
INSTALLATION AT WHANGAROA. The installation of officer* of the Lodge Zealandia, No. 2072, E C., took place at the Masonic Hall on the 19th May. The lodge was close tyled at three p.m. Brother 0. Gothard, W.M. elect, who was duly installed with the customary services, was saluted by the brethren in the three degrees, after which the newly-installed W.M. invested his officers as follows :— Brother P. Davison, S. W. ; Brother H. W. Bishop, J.W.; Brother J. Christie, treasurer; Brother R. Shepherd, secretary ; Brother C. L. White, S.D. ; Brother H. D. Stewart, J.D. ; Brother J. Wigmore, J.G. ; Brother J. Wothorspoon, tyler. The ceremony was performed in a very able manner by Brother Alexander Anderson, P.M., assisted by Brother Collins, P.M., of Russell. The lodge was closed at five p.m. In the evening an enjoyable ball was held in honour of the installation, a number of visitors having come from a considerable distance. Brother J. W. Williams, P.M., proved an efficient M.C. The arrangements made by the committee were in every way a success. The hall was tastefully and appropriately decorated by flags and ferns. The music was effectively rendered by Mrs. Horsley, Miss Stevenson, and Brother Calkin, the dancing being kept up with unflagging zest until four o'clock the following morning. The refreshment table was replete with luxuries, and it was laid out with exquisite taste, under the superintendence of Mrs. Christie, Mrs. Wjgmore, and Mrs. White. Votes of thanks were passed at the conclusion to those who had so materially aided to tie success of the evening's amusements.—[Own Correspon* dent, June 2.]
