THE TORRENS ACT : PROPOSED INTRODUCTION INTO ENGLAND. London, June 4. Viscount Monck, trustee of New South Wales Loan and Mortgage Agency Company, has discussed with leading colonists at the Exhibition the advisability of introducing the Torrens Act, for facilitating land transfer, into England. CANADIAN FISHERIES DISPUTE. Washington, June 6. In consequence of the recent difficulty between Canada and the United States on the fisheries question, an American squadron has been ordered to proceed to Portland, State of Maine, in order to prevent a possible conflict. THE CHOLERA IN ITALY. Rome, June 6. Advices from Florence state that cholera has made its appearance there. The epidemic is also reported as increasing rapidly at Venice. LONDON COMMERCIAL NEWS. London, June 5. Consols and New Zealand securities are without change. Colonial breadstuff's: Adelaide wheat unchanged. Adelaide flour, ex store, 245; New Zealand wheat, ex store, 28s to 335, according to grade. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,450,000 quarters. Tallow: Best Australian beef, average price, 26s per cwt; mutton, ditto, 28s per cwt. New Zealand frozen meat Prime quality, 5Jd to s£d per lb.
