WAIKATO DISTRICT NEWS.

[by TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Friday evening. At a meeting of the Kirikiriroa Licensing Committee — present: Messrs. Primrose, Gillett, H. Steele, T. Kunciman, and Captain Powell—application was made by Mr. W. H. M. Lovell, of Taupiri, for an accommodation license in iieu of the publican's license hitherto granted to the hotel, which he stated was 5 miles 124 chains from any other licensed house. The meeting was adjourned to the ISth inst., in order to enable Mr. Lovell to produce the certificate of a licensed surveyor that the house was more than five miles from the Huntly Hotel.

At the Raugiriri Licensing Bench Committee's meeting on Wednesday, a license was granted to William McCulloch eill for the Rangiriri Hotel, whiob, to the inconvenience of the public, had been closed for the last twelve months. The monthly meeting of the Kirikiriroa Highway Board was held to-day. Present: Mr. A. Primrose in the chair, and Messrs. liunciman, H. Steele, and Lovell. A rate had been notified of in the £, but the Board to-day reconsidered the matter, and considered £d in the £ sufficient, A resolution to set aside the previous resolution and give notice of making a rate of id in the £ was agreed to. The chairman was authorised to see the Mayor of Hamilton, and arrange for the joint improvement of the road to the East Hamilton or Kirikiriroa burying-ground.
