NATIVE DIFFICULTY AT MATAMATA.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Te Aroha, Friday. Sergeant Emerson proceeded to Matamata this morning, having been wired for by Inspector Kielly to meet him there in connection with some dispute between Mr. Firth and the natives. It seems that a party of natives claim a piece of one of the Matamata blocks. To enforce their claim, they have for some time squatted on the land. They declined to leave when asked by Mr. Firth, and I believe that he then threw down some of their fences. I believe that they claim that the particular block in question was sold by natives who had no light to have been recognised as the owners.
