[from OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Hamilton, Thursday. A meeting of the Piako County Council will be held in the Borough Council Cham* bers on Saturday next. The Domain Board has called for tenders for the clearing and ploughing of another large block of the Crown lands handed oyer to the borough. It ie also proposed to reserve from further lease, lot 23, containing some twenty-four acres, in West Hamilton, with a frontage to the river, which, if planted with ornamental trees, would make a suitable recreation ground for the inhabit tants. Patrick Vallaly was yesterday, on th® evidence of two medical men, committed to the Auckland Asylum as a person of unsound mind. Ngakuawahia, Thursday, Mr Mcintosh, who has for some time held the mastership of the public school at Pukete, is to be removed to a new sohoo recently established at Epsom. The name of Mr. Mcintosh's successor at Pukete is not yet known. An instance of the sort of thing which makes farming unprofitable occurred recently to Mr. Prior, of Raglan. That gentleman sent 19 piys to Anckland for Bale. They realised a gross sum of £5 Bs, and the return sales, after freight, fees, commission, etoij, had been deducted, amounted to lis lid.
