DEFEAT OF MATTERSON. [beutbr's tklegbams.] London, May 24. Thr sculling match between Perkins and Matterson to-day resulted in ft win for Perkins by three lengths, A Press Association message says: —In the sculling match, Neil Matterson, of New South Wales v. Perkins, the English sculler, the former was beaten within a mile from tke start, and Perkins won without an effort. A later despatch says:—ln the sculling match with Perkins Matterson rowed very fairly. He is now anxioue for a match with Godwin.
