LOWER RMUERA MISSION HALL.
The Rev. G. O. Barnes, evangelist, who has for the past few weeks been conducting a most successful mission in the above hall, delivered his farewell address last evening, The audience, as usual, was a large one, and the preacher was listened to with the utmost attention, as with characteristic simplicity and earnestness he illustrated the growth in Christian life, taking as the type the third day in the creation of the world, Mr. Barnes having dealt with the initiatory _ stages on the preceding evening. The interest which has been displayed during this series of mission services has been unprecedented in the district, and the results will doubtless be of a permanent character, as there has been an absence of undue excitement, whilst the deepest feeling has prevailed throughout. After the address, the solo "God be with you till we meet again," was sung by Mies Barnes with great pathos. Before the conclusion of the service nearly the whole audience rose to their feet, to indicate that the mission had been one of blessing to them. After the Doxology had been heartily sung by all present, many pressed forward to bid farewall to Mr. Barnes and his family, and to thank them personally for the good they had received during the mission. Mr. Barnes and family leave by the Mararoa to-day for America.
