THE NEW COMET.

It will be remembered that the last comet that appeared in our skies was discovered by Captain Parquhar, of the Thames steamer Rotomahana. The same gentleman informs us that on the 2nd May, as he was looking at the western sky, he saw what appeared to be a comet near the constellation of Orion. It was a little hazy, and clouds were flitting about that part of the heavens, but there appeared to be little doubt that it was a comet. Mr. J. T. Stevenson, F.R.A.S, writeß: There ia little doubt that the new arrival is comet Fabry, although much further south than I expected to find it. It would, undoubtedly, have been discovered earlier, had observations not been hindered by thelate inclement weather. Assuming this to be comet Fabry, it is now some 460 timea brighter than at its first discovery in the northern hemisphere.
