AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING. TRAINING NOTBS. The beautiful morning of yesterday had the effect of drawing a very large number of persons to witoc33 tho training work at Ellorslie. Chaafc, as usual, was early astir, and shortly after lour o'clock Turquoise, Necklace, Derringer, and Radames were brought on tho ploughed track, and it was at once seen that a most interesting piece of work was intended. The four went away at a yreat pace, and swept round in splendid style. Radames was soon out of ifc, however, after completing once round, and at tho cutting the second time Derringer was pulled oil. Turquoise and Necklace coming home at a clinking pace, and finishing within a neck of each other. Opinion was a little divided a 9 to which finished tho strongest, some thinking Necklace and some Turquoise. Anyway, there does not appear to be a very great deal of differeuce between them. Necklace appeared to have lost the soreness which wan so manifest in her movements last week, and now betrays not the slightest symptoms of unsoundness. Stonyhurat, Wapiti, and Nelson put in otico round alow, when they broke away for a fast spin, cominu home at three-quarter pace. No fault could be found with Nelson and Wapiti, but 1 fancied that the Cup favourite did not finish quite so resolutely as on former occasions. Petroleum (in rug*) and Catesby were sent twice round, the lattor doing his work very neatly. King and Musk worn Bont about three miles. The former looks very well, but does not appear to gallop so strong ae formerly. Foul Shot and Libeller accomplished twice round, the first slow, and the last about three-quarter paco. tho three-year-old going i very free. Tetford (with George Williams tip) went twice round, going much kinder than formerly. Sir Bodevere and Victory were simt onoo round fast, in which the former appeared to have the advantage. Woodnymph (in neck and shoulder piece) ' was sent once round slow, when she was joined by Scot Free, when the pace was improved, the two-year-old pacing with the mare nearly ail the way. both finishing well. Revolver and Caoutchouc worked in company, as did also Contractor and j Alfred, all pood work. Tasman (in heavy neck and quarter rugs) was aunt two turns on the plough, moving vory fro.u. 1 had a look at the old follow when he came back to his box, and there can he no question that hie owner has him in futtle. IK , appears to be as sound an when he was foaled, and, all going well with him, thero can be little doubt that he will rim a great home. Macaroni was sent three miles, going very strong throughout. Capsize and Alpiuo Rose got through a sound piece of work, over twice round, tho former appearing to have the best of his companion. Waitiri did slow work, as did also her stable mate Christina. Kingask, who is a real nice cut of a hurdle-racer, got over about two miles at an easy pace. The. betting on the Auckland Cup shows little signs (if livening up. Stonyhurst still maintains the position of favourite, and tivo '' tenners " were accepted about his winning both iup and Derby. Tasman and Kin« k. -i como in for a little support at 100 to 4. For the Cup and Steeplechase 100 to 10 is oUp red on tho Held. Horse-owners :■.:<• reminded that to-morrow (Friday) i« geiu-r-ii entry day in connection with tho Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting. The committee, howovpr, considered from the statements made by several members of tho A. R.C., who were present nt the C.J.C. meeting, that the jockey was harshly treated. The cause of White's disqualification wan owing to his breaking away many tiin< ■ while riding Mr. Stead's niarn Marion in the Free Handicap at the late C.J.C. meeting.
