The monthly meeting of the Paparata District Board was held at the Board's office, Bombay Public Hall, on Saturday, August 1. The following members ere present, viz. :— Messrs. Balme (Chairman), J. Wilson, Manning, W. Cooper, and J. Evans. The following business was transacted :—Tenders received for putting the Public Pound into thorough repair, and covering IS feet by 14 with iron, the Board to fiud the iron: Mr. W. Evans, £5 ; Mr. J. Jessup, £5 10s. Mr. Evans' tender was accepted. The work is to be completed within one mouth from the timo of accepting tender. A side cutting near Mr. J. N. Sawyer's farm was let to Mr. Sawyer for £0, the work to be done within threo months. The following works were authorised to be done, tenders for whioh are to be sent in by the sth day of September, at two p.m., viz.2oo yards of three-inoh metal for that part of the Bombay-road and the Bombay School; a bridge to be erected near Mr. R. French's farm, on the Paparata* road, plans, &c., to be seen at the house of the Chairman, Mr. Balme ; the bridge near the farm of Mr. Sawyer, senr., to be rebuilt ; a road to be cleared twelve feet wide from Mr. R. Martin's front corner to his back line, or to the boundary of the Paparata district. Several minor jobs were authorised to bo done by day work. The Board agreed to pay Mr. French £20 for the piece of road through his farm, where Mr. Sandee, C.E., made the deviation in the road in surveying the site for the new bridge about to be erected. The next meeting of the Board is to be held on September 5, at two p.m.— [Own Correspondent, August 10.] A Reefton paper says that the east reef in the south face of the Inglewood Extended mine shows a thickness of 4ffc. t the thickness of tho west reef in the north face being 3ft., and making bigger.
