The Taraw«ra arrived from Sydney at an early hour this morning. She left Sydney at 5 p.m. on the 6th, and experienced strong head winds from the N.E. The Union Co.'s steamship Wairarapa, from Melbourne and Southern ports, carno into harbour yesterday morning, making the run from Gisborne in 21 hours. Captain Popham, who comes in charge of the Wairarapa, report* having left Melbourne at 2 p.m. oil the 28 1 h alt. ; cleared Port Phillip Heads at 7.15 p.m. ; reached Hobart at 7 a.m. on the 30ch ; sailed again at 5 p.m. ; experienced strong south-east winds and head sea on the passage across, arriving at Bluff at 7 a.m. on the 3rd instant; reached Dunedin at daylight on the 4th, sailing again at 5 p.m. on the sth; called at Lytteltoo on 6th, making Wellington at 3 p.m. on the 7th; left again at 4 p.m. on the 8;h ; called at Napier on 9th, and Gisborne on 10th, sailing from the latter port at 10 a.m. ; rounded the East Cape at 4 p.m. bane day ; passed Cuvier Island at 4 a.m. on the 11th ; experienced fine weather up the coast. We have to thank Mr. Taylor, the purser, for the prompt delivery of our files, and for other favours. The Wairarapa proceeds on to Sydney, via Russell, this afternoon. Merchants and importers will do well to note this alteration. The a.s. Stella is to proceed to Southern ports to-day. The barque Norway wag hauled off from the Queen-street Wharf into a berth in the stream yesterday morning. She is, should the wind be favourable, to sail for the Bluff to-day. The ship Crusader was hauled off from the Railway Wharf yesterday morning, and last evening was berthed at the Queen-street Wharf. Her removal was owing to blasting operations being renewed in the vicinity of the first namod wharf. The ship is getting along well with her loading for London. The a.«. Ohau took her departure for Greymouth last evening, having landed here her transhipped cargo of tea from the s.s. Tamsui. The s.s. Waitaki and Glenelg, both for Whangarei, took their departure last evening, with cargo and passengers. The schooner Saucy Kate loft for Mangonui yesterday morning. The schooner Darcy Pratt left Oamaru for this port yesterday, with a cargo of grain, &c. Mr. D. Gouk intends to launch the new schooner Nt-lu from his shipbuilding yards this morning at 8.30. The ship Neibudda is now 100 days out from London, and consequently may be expected to put in an appearance at any moment. The Union Co.'s s.s.
