[press association.] WANGANUI, Friday. Mr. Bryce addresses his constituents ai Waverley on Saturday night, and at Wan« ganui next Wednesday. WELLINGTON, Friday. The "Silver King" Company, after a most successful season here, extended over a month, left this evening for Napier and Auckland. At the inquest on the body of the man Wilding, who died in a coach on the way from Foxton to Wellington, the post mortem showed thai; death had resulted from the diseased condition of the deceased's heart and longs, and a verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony. CBRISTCHURCH, Friday. At its meeting to - day the Car-ierbury Chamber of Commerce resolved to interest the other Chambers of this and the Australian colonies in a combined effort to reduce the charge on cable messages sent by the New Zealand line. The Chamber also re* solved to send to the South Sea Islands to enquire, iu the interests of this part of the colony, into all matters of commercial inte< rest there. The cost to be borne by subscriptions raised in Canterbury. The Women's Gospel Temperance Union, organised here by Mrs. Leavitt, have resolved to take vigorous action in the city and suburbs. They have been divided into districts for the purpose of a house to house canvass by the ladies, and public meetings are to be held monthly. REEFTON, Friday. The election of a Chairman of the County Council was fixed for Wednesday last, the Clerk of the Council presiding. When it came to the voting tho parties were even, and the County Clerk claimed the right to exercise t> casting vote, and did so in favoui of Mr. C. B. Craig. Mr. Menteith protested against the legality of the Clerk's action, and the meeting was adjourned till yesterday to take outside legal advice. At the Council meeting to-night Mr. Craig did not take the chair, but proposed Mr. Menteith as temporary Chairman, the inference being that the legal advice was opposed to th« action of the Clerk. Subsequently Mr. Menteith w»s elected County Chairman. DUNEDIN, Friday. A man named W. B.
