BANKRUPTCY.— of Creditors. Daniel Ooubtkkt. — meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Daniel Courtney, hotelkeeper, Coromandel, wta held yesterday, at the Official Assignee's office. Mr. w. J. Suiter was, in the absence of Mr. Lawson, elected.. Chairman. : The . other creditors present were Messrs., Patrick Gleeson and Patrick Brodie. The debtor and his solicitor, Mr. Blades, were also present. The debtor's sworn statement, before the Official Assignee, was read by Mr. W. Gray. The liabilities were stated to be £350 17s sd, including £200 for good-will of the Tramway Hotel, Coromandel; £109 2s 4d, trade accounts ; £12 3s Id, household debts; £13 rent, and £16 12s board account at To Aroha. The assets were set down at: Furniture, £40; stock, £25; book debts, £232; making in all £290 3s 6d. The debtor was questioned as ...to how he contracted such a large amount of book _ debts during the short time he was in tba hotel, and stated ' that he was obliged to do so to keep the trade, going. In reply to the Chairman, Mr. Blades said the debtor had no offer to make. Mr. Gray informed the meeting that Mr. Colebrook had been appointed agent of the Official Assignee to realise the estate as quickly as possible. It would realise about £35 exclusive of the book debts, and the rent would be first claim on the assets after paying the expenses of bankruptcy. Mr. Brodie suggested Ithat the debtor should be allowed to remain in occupation to give _ him a new start, and a show to collect in the book debts to enable him to pay his debts. Finally, after a good deal of recrimination between the creditors, a resolution was passed approving of the action 6£ the Official Assignee. .New Adjudications.— H. Lusk, solicitor; - Robert Miles, plasterer ; ' and Augustus Linabury, draper, were yesterday adjudicated bankrupts on their own several petitions. ' -
