TH BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
Yesterday (6th) at a meeting of the exeoutive of the Benevolent Society the following resolutions were carried unanimously':— Resolved (1.) " That the Chairman of the executive committee ask the President and Treasurer of the society to join with him in demanding from the late Secretary the books and property belonging to the Benevolent Society, he having refused to give them up ; and inform him that unless they are handed over forthwith proceedings will be taken for their recovery." Resolved (2.) " That the Chairman of the executive be empowered to give the landlord the requisite notice for quitting the office, pay any rent due. and get a receipt in full of all demands." Resolved (3.) " That on the late Secretary handing over to the Chairman of the executive, or his appointee, the key of the office and other property belonging to the society, ho be paid all arrears of salary, with the addition of one month's in lieu of notice, in terms of his appointment." Resolved (4.) " That a special meeting of the exeeutive be called at four p.m., on Tuesday-next for the appointment of a new Secretary aud,.other business."
