BODY OF A CHILD FOUND ON SHELLY BEACH.
About a quarter to five o'clock yesterday afternoon two boys named Patterson and Hamilton came to the Ponsonby police station, and reported to Constable Collie that the body of an infant was lying on Shelly Beach. He proceeded to the spot indicated, and found the body of a female child about three days old, sewn up in calico,in a gunny beg, which was stuffed with tow. This gunny bag was partly stuffed in a larger one. Constable Collis was engaged last night in making inquiries, but so far has been unable to throw any light on the mystery,
