PORT ALBERT AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

fBT TELEGEAPH.—OWN COB&SSFOHDKST.] - Post Albert, Wednesday. Fob the fourth year in succession, the weather hat had the effect of marring more or less the success of the Port Albert Agricultural Show. In this case it happily cleared up daring the forenoon, bat was sufficiently threatening last evening and this morning to prevent many from a distance from attending. The exhibits as a whole were equal to those of any previous show, bat they could not be said to exhibit any marked improvement. There were nearly 300 entries altogether of the several classes, fruit, as in last year's, being the most attractive, and evoking most interest. In cattle, the district appears stationary, or shows little signs of advance. The probability is that they are as good as their environments, and that a higher grade would necessitate different conditions not at present attainable. The long spell of dry weather did not of course enhance the beauty of those brought forward. The judges of fruit, Messrs. Blackmore and Stone, spoke highly of the collection of the best sorts of apples, bat counselled that in future all trait should have names attached. Mr. James Cropland's special prize of half a ton of bonedust for the best 50 bushels of wheat, was awarded to Mr. Peter Becroft. Competition for this prize was limited, as, though a number here have grown wheat, in several oases it scarcely amounted to the required quantity. Of extra exhibits Mr. Cameron, saddler, Helensville, brought forward several saddles, which for workmanship, finish, and price, left nothing to be desired. One, a lady's, was embroidered throughout, and was the finest thing of the kind yet seen here. There were also a number of bridles, riding whips, etc. The following is the prize list:—
