MURDERS IN NEW GUINEA.

Commander Marx, of H.M.S. Swinger, reports having discovered the remains of Mr. Webb, his wife, and party, and also hit boat. They were murdered by the natives of Brady's Hills and the range between Fort Milport and Magri Bay. The remains were taken to Port Moresby on the 18th instant, and were buried in the foreign cemetery. All of the white population and many of , the natives attended the funeral, at which'.the Be v. J. Chalmers officiated. Commander Marx and his boat's crew were attacked, but none of them were wounded, and the natives were driven back to Nara and Rabadi. "At Wornine a native named Noveane was murdered by the Jokea natives. Unless Webb and' party's murderers are. punished evil results are anticipated for the natives and the whites, as the former think that the whites are weak. The latter will be murdered, and then a war of races must ensue, and all the blacks will be shot. The present is a good opportunity to convinee the natives all along the coast of the reality of the protectorate, and that Great Britain means her words. • , i .
