SATURDAY'S CRICKET MATCHES.

Saturday was all that could be desired for the game, and the ground was numerously patronised by spectators, the ladies forming a large proportion of those present. West End and Gordon commenced their return by the dark blues winning the toss, and Arneil and King starting operations. Arneil played a good serviceable innings for 30, and G. Brook 14, and J. Lawry 21, also batted well for their runs, and the innings closed for 116 runs at twenty minutes past five p.m. Gordon had one wicket down, for 42 when time was called, McCausland (23), and L. Meldrum (14), were not out. Play will be resumed on Saturday. The Second Elevens of these clubs also met for their return, and the contest ended in a draw, W.E. occupying the creases almost all the afternoon for 18.4, Renner 50, Courtayne 38, C. Clayton 37, and Gamble 21, being the principal scorers. Gordon had 3 wickets for 11 when stumps were drawn. Newton defeated Our Boys in result of first innings by 25 runs.
