COUNTY ELECTIONS.
WaITBMATA. In yesterday's paper we gave the results of the" polling in the Takapuna riding, with the exception of Lucas* Creek, where the voting was aB follows :—Mays, 1; Alison, 3- Glennie. 1; Hawkins, 10. This makes the total: Mays, 219 ; Alison, 179; Glennie, 114; Hawkins, 122. In the other ridings, the polling was as followß :— WAITAKEBEI biding. Smythe. Thames, Thursday.— Totara riding : John Townsend was elected by 25 votes over L. 3. Bag nail. Hastings riding :J. C. Steedman headed the poll by 23 votes. He polled 50 at Tairua whereas Hawkes only obtained 8 votes there. The home booths were in favour of Bawkes. Ohinemuri riding: J. H. Moore and J. M. McCombie were elected.
ROBNEY. Wabkworth, Thursday.—The election for members of the Rodney County Council took place on Wednesday. Mahurangi Riding (returning two members): J. H. Hudson (74) and Geo. Moore (65) were elected. Messrs. Snook, Algie, and Sainsbury were the unsuccessful candidates. Matakana Riding: Mr. David Cruickshank was elected. Tanhoa Riding: Mr. J. Gardiner was elected; and for Albert, Mr. J. Shepherd. Rodney, Thursday. — Fuhoi Riding : J. Scholium, unopposed. Whakapirau: H. H. Jackman, unopposed. Tauhoa: John Gardner, 15 ;E. Brown, 14. Thia election is under protest, and will probably be a subject for litigation. Waikato.
• Rangiribi, Thursday.—The polling yesterday for a councillor for the outlying distriot of Rangariri, in the Waikato County Council, resulted in the election of Mr. Francis Johnstone, of Wairengi. The numbers were —Wairengi : Johnstone, 14 ; Ralph, 3. Rangirin : Johnstone, 21 ; Ralph, 4. Huntly : Johnstone, 14; Ralph, 29. Majority for Johnstone, 7, who has been declared duly elected. B<»y of Islands.
Russell, Thursday.—Messrs. Moody and Swift have been elected councillors for the Kawakawa riding, and Messrs. M. Clatke and — Dixon for the Waimate riding.
