CONCERT AT PONSONBY HALL.

A choir of St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church gave their annual concert in the Ponsooby Hall last night. The choir was assisted by the string quartette of the Orchestral Society and other friends. The hall was well filled by a highly appreciative audience. • The programme opened with a chorus from " Lucia di Lammermoor" (Donizetti), followed by a string quartette (by Haydn) by Messrs. C. and J. Hemus, Clough, and Kdger. Mr. Taylor gave the " Italian Boatman's Song" (Tito Mattei) in a manner which evoked hearty applause. This number was followed by the aong " Woodnymph'a Call" (L. Williams), by Miss McMillan. The trio, " Memory" (Henry Leslie), by Misses Oulpan and Brassey and Mr. Edwards, was sweetly rendered. Mr. Cook played a violin solo very skilfully. Miss Culpan fairly brought down the house in the song, " A Vision" (Hy. Pontett). " A Dream within a Dream," by tho same composer, was well snng by Mr. Burnhafti. The duet, "The moon hath raised her lamp above," by Messrs. Knox and Edwards, was suog in a manner which gave full scope to their fine voices. The quartette, "Romanza" (Orpheus), closed the first part of the concert. The chorus from "Le Nozze di Figaro" (Mozart) was well given. The minuet "Celeht-" (by Boccherini) was rendered so well by Messrs. C. and J. Hemus, Clough, and Edger, that an emphatic encoro was demanded and complied with. " Rage thou Angry Storm" (Balfe) was well sung by Mr. Knox. Mits Brassey was re-called for her rendering of the popular song, "Love, I will Love Thee Ever" (P. Bucanlosse). "NouoVer" (Tito Mattei) was dono full justice to by Mr. Burnham. Mr. Taylor was very happy in the aong, "Never too Lato to Mend" (J. S. Roschel). Tho duet, "How Sad it is to Say Faro well" (Bellini) was sweetly sung by the Misses Culpan and Brassey. Miss McMillan sang "Should He Upbraid" (Bishop). Mr. Edwards' rendering of the song " Ruby" (Virginia Gabriel) was well received. A chorus from " Pietro Von Abano" (Spohr)and " God Save the Queen" brought the concert to a conclusion. Mr. J. G. Culpan was conductor, and the accompaniments were cffic-'ently played by the Misses Culpan and Main.
