THE TRORNDON ELECTION.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN COBBESPONDTOT.] ■" Wellington, Monday. The election for the vacancy for Thorndon, which takes place to-morrow, is creating a great deal of excitement. The candidates are Dr. Newman and Mr. Bunny. Mr. Dwan withdrew his candidature to-night on the eve of the election, in a somewhat comical and unexampled manner. .Referring to the time when he stood against Mr. Levin for the same seat, and was defeated, he said the electors Bold him before, and he would sell them now, and, by not standing, his withdrawal will materially benefit Mr. Bunny's chances by leaving him tb% Catholic Tote unfettered. It is etill considered likely that the contest will be a very close one between Dr. Newman and Mr, Bunny.
