The proceedings of the second day of the session began yesterday morning at half-past nine o'clock. The ordinary Mass appointed to be said on the second day of the Synod, viz., the Mass of Requiem, was' said by the Very Rev. Monsignor Fynes, V.G.j and at its conclasion Bis Lordship was vested in his sable robes, and the absolution of the dead was given by him. The "Libera me, Domine" was then started by the cantors, and taken up by the whole body of the clergy, amongst whom we noticed, in addition to those mentioned yesterday, the Rev. P. A. Fox, 0.5.8.j fromWaikato. At the conclusion of the absolution the Bishop, with his assistants, - entered the sacristy, and, patting off his black vestments, was vested, again in the- red—the colour , of the Syno.d. The Rev. M. D. O'Hara and the Rev. J. Paul assisted him again, the former singing the Gospel customary on the occasion. The allocation of the Bishop fallowed just as on the previous day, after which the Secretary (Fatber.O'Gara, 0.5.8.), published from the altar steps part, of the decrees approved by the .Bishop in. his private council. These, however, have not yet been made known outside the Synod. The clergy met in the afternoon at half-past, three' o'clock, in the school-room, Hobeonstroet, Bishop Luck presiding. The imI portant question of education was discussed till a quarter ■to eix • o'olock, at which hour the Synod arose without any resolution* having been carried. The consideration of the education question will be resumed today after the morning service.'
