BISHOP LUCK'S SPEECH.
TO THS EDITOR. Sib, —If you will accord me a amail space for a short comment on the'speech delivered by Bishop Luck at the meeting held yesterday of ihe Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals I shall be obliged. Bishop Luck stated that the - words cftity and ; charity were words not applicable to the treatment by man of creatures occupying a lower grade of existence. Surely Bisnop- Luck mast put a different meaning on those words to tho one that they bear to most minds, or he could never have become'a Vice-Patron of a society which is ■-especially organised, to inculcate those very sentiments in man towards the lower • orders of oreation. I sincerely hope that Bishop Luck will further explain the trne meaning of his remarks.—l am, &c., George Mocatta. Auckland, Ist May, 18S4.
