A. deputation, repre-J sencing the borough and county, and inolud-' ing the Mayor and the member for tbe district, have gone to interview the Government, in respect to the stoppage of the harbour works. Mtst of the mea discharged have families. Aβ the times are dull here now, in consequence of several avenues for obtaining employ having become closed or considerably narrowed, some distress is not unlikely to occur during the winter.
