[by ieleoeaph.—fbess association.} Gbeymouth, . Thursday. Of the 75 men employed in connection with the Harbour Board, over 50 have been discharged. . The remainder retained are mostly of a superior and higher paid class, such ao overseers and those employed in the machine shop. A few were working to-day, bringing down stone to secure the tip-head while the j works are stopped. A. deputation, repre-J sencing the borough and county, and inolud-' ing the Mayor and the member for tbe district, have gone to interview the Government, in respect to the stoppage of the harbour works. Mtst of the mea discharged have families. Aβ the times are dull here now, in consequence of several avenues for obtaining employ having become closed or considerably narrowed, some distress is not unlikely to occur during the winter.
