The amalgam returns for the week ending April 28th aru :— New Find, 15 head, 59 trucks, 2930z«. lOdwte. ; Colonist, i=o head, 103 trucks, 2580z«. ; making a total for the month — New Kind, 371 tons, 130Sozs. lKdwta. ; Colonist, 553 1-3 tone, 16820z5. edwts. Tbe retorting ia now going on, but will not be known antil to-morrow. Nf.w Prinlk Impkkul.— The following nine manager's report was received last eveping : —Toe rnaiu shaft has been sunk five feet, and timbered-up 25 feet, during the week. Very hard sandstone is atill beiajf passed through, but the bard rock haa now almost disappeared. No. 5 level : The No. 2 lead ia the eastern sto pes above this level looks very well, and is producing good payable dirt So. 4 level : The eastern drive on No. 2 lead is still being extended. The lead is fully 15 iuches thick, but haa been rather disturbed fur the last 1U feet, on account of the country being full of op«a beads. These are now disappearing, and the ground is getting more solid again. The itopes whioh are in hand here are looking about the same, »nd gold is seen each time the quartz is broken down. Two ■topes are in progress on No. 3 lead, but gold has not been seen ho freely this week. A large quantity of good crushing dirt is ■till being obtained from tbe stopea on No. 1 reef above this level. No. :{ level : Stoping on .No. 1 reef here is now in full swing, and I am pleased to say that the dirt continues to »Q*P" p»y»Me at the battery. Na. 2 level : The cross-cut to connect with the air ■haft ha* been extended 20 feet. The air abaft will be down the required distance u» a few d*y« more. [BT T*X.BGHAPH.— FBSSS ASSOCIATION.] Ross, Tuesday. The quartz excitement continues, and patties are eut ia all directions pegging leases. Stone wu brought to town on Saturday, showing specks of gold, some the size of a pin's head. Samples of the same ■tone were crushed by pestle and mertar, in the presence of a score of practical miners, who unanimously agreed that the result was very payable. The reef is stated to be well dranod, and from two to flvo feet thic'-'
