The Standard published a report from Egypt, to the effect that four divisions of Bedouins, numbering 500 soldiers, have deserted from the ranks of Gordon Pasha's garrison at Khartoum, and that hie position is helpless. The same paper states that the Soudan ifl lost as far as Wady Haifa.
